I tried to imagine how this character would look in a slightly futuritstic setting (think cybepunk/shadowrun). For some reason the only image that popped up was that of a singer trying to scrape whatever money she can working and singing in seedy place at night, her dress being the only item of value she has.
Sounds totally like a player character in a RPG campaign or the main heroine of a pulp novel who is gonna end up in a LOT of unwanted (and life threatening) trouble.
