Iota Makita is the son of Xavier and Ruta Makita, a gatekeeper, and a special student at Hope's Peak High diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. He is known to be shy, awkward, superstitious-like, comical-like, silly, and childlike. Iota was always bullied by his peers at school and seen as the black sheep because of his behaviors despite processing differently. People often become afraid of him and getting creeped out by him. This makes Iota very sad and lonely because all he wanted was for someone to be around him. He is also very aware about others gossiping and talking negatively about him, which only adds more hurt. Okada Moro, Takiro Naiiji, Tara Akane, and a few other students soon began to abuse Iota and telling him that he's the reason why bad things happen and that he's better off dead and never seen again. Because of those words and the fact that he was beaten on the floor all be it worse, he begins to think that he's the reason why nobody is happy and decides to remove himself from everyone by shutting himself from the world and leaving notes for everyone telling them that he's sorry for existing and being the sole reason why everybody's afraid of him. Iota was about to write his name (not full since he was living at an orphanage) but decided to erase it and wrote down "The Weird Kid", since that's what he's usually called at school, the public, and at the orphanage. 2 years later, Iota would soon find himself a gatekey and obtain his first ever mythos Quetzalcoatl, Aztec God of the Wind, who awakened after Iota was about to become another corpse collection for a yakuza gang because of a misunderstanding. The two would forge a bond with each other and journey along the dimensions to help out those in need and being more considerate towards others. As they gain more allies to fight alongside them, and becoming a traveling companion for Victoria Mars, another gatekeeper like him, Iota would become more open and mindful and became very happy after Victoria accepted him as her equal and friend, eventually becoming a supportive friend to her and forging a stronger bond with each other that can never be broken. Iota was also getting love and consideration by others and his former bullies eventually apologized whole-heartedly and opening up to him thanks to Chi showing them the same love they are showing Iota. Iota is currently Victoria's traveling companion, sidekick, and roommate.
