Back in 2021 I attempted to give myself a proper vtuber design, but between VRoid still being in beta and me still trying to learn how to texture for the program, I had to simplify and cut out A LOT of ideas I had for the concept. Fast forward to 2022, and while I initially started working on a revamped version of that design, I eventually shifted to doing a total rebrand/redesign and this concept got shelved. Then last month happened, and a game that I liked ended up doing a outfit swap event and I got the crazy idea to whip up a quick test of a remastered version of that design. I really liked the initial test, so here we are with the finished result!
Now this design doesn't technically match my current lore, but I did lean into the old concept/lore that I never got off the ground due to me not having the ability to add certain details to the original version of the design. So, deleted lore time: So first things first, you should know that back before my redebut, I went by “ShinyGlider” a reference to my sugar gliders and Shiny Pokemon, as I got into the series around the same time I got my first glider and I discovered Emolga was a thing. At the time I didn't want to fully rebrand, so I was trying to think of a way for that name to make sense with my new design, that's when I landed on an isekai/JRPG concept, after all, in some series the protagonist isn't always well known by their actual name, but their skills or their appearance instead. So, my concept became I got isekai'd into a fantasy world that has similar rules/skill sets to JRPGs, my abilities aren't actually mine though. No, instead I can summon projections of my sugar gliders (literal sugar gliders made out of light aka “shiny gliders”) and each one gives me some sort of skill, attack, buff or gives debuffs to enemies. That's why on my belt there are pins that represent each of my sugar gliders, Kuma, Pocky, Satou, Tomo, Miko, Yomi, Twitchy, and Kasane. In concept the pins would act as a summon item, and maybe light up when one of the gliders is called on? But like I said, the original model for this concept was done in VRoid's beta and I couldn't communicate my full idea due to the limitations, so I never revealed this concept in full and just referred to it as an isekai inspired design.
Overall it's nice to come back and finally make this design the way I had always wanted it to be, and I'm very happy with it! I honestly think of all the models I've made for myself this one probably feels the most like me personally, or maybe that's just bias due to it being made with my favorite color and the references to my gliders.
